Description:
The Municipality of the City of Székesfehérvár, co-financed by the Transport Operational Programme (KÖZOP) ordered a detailed feasibility study on the intermodal centre to be located near the railway station, in order to facilitate further project preparations and planning application.
MRI elaborated the project background; among others we presented the importance of intermodality and intermodal centres both from transport and urban development point of view, reviewed the EU and national law relevant for the project, and studied the project’s conformity with relevant EU, national and local policy documents, strategies, plans and connecting projects. Based on data collection, data provided by the client, interviews with professionals and site visits to all parts of the city we produced the prognoses underlying the traffic model.
We produced the preliminary options analysis, from the elaboration of the methodology of the multi-criteria analysis. We identified four main factors as a basis for creating options, and assessed their altogether 24 solution alternatives in a quantitative way from cost, benefit and feasibility points of view. In questions needing political decision we prepared and asked decisions from the Assembly of the City of Székesfehérvár. We combined the reasonable solution alternatives to form a limited number of main technical alternatives proposed for detailed options analysis. We also studied the functional layout of the railway station building using international good practice.
