
Iván Tosics, managing director of Metropolitan Research Institute will be among the speakers of the conference “Medium Sized Towns in European Spatial Structure”, organized by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office.
The one-day conference, beginning at 10 am on 17 October 2017, organised and co-sponsored by HSCO, will be held at the main building of the Central Statistical Office in 5-7 Keleti Károly str. The event is free, but registration is required at regionalstatistics@ksh.hu. International speakers include Denise Pumain (University Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, Paris), Rob Atkinson (University of the West of England, Bristol), Evert Meijers (Delft University of Technology) and Luděk Sýkora (Charles University, Prague). Hungarian presenters are György Csomós of the University of Debrecen, accompanied by Dávid Fekete, János Rechnitzer and Judit Berkes, researchers of Széchenyi István University (Győr). MRI director Tosics will focus on the role of Functional Urban Areas and metropolitan cooperation in the opportunities of medium sized towns in Central and Eastern Europe.
