József Hegedüs participated in a project meeting between 5-8 April 2016 in Brunico-Bruneck for RESHAPE – Redesigning Social Housing Against Poverty in Europe, a comparative project focusing on social housing in Southern Europe, with the aim to produce applied knowledge for a variety of housing regimes. The meeting was a follow-up to last year’s kick-off in Bolzano.
RESHAPE (Redesigning Social Housing Against Poverty in Europe) is a comparative project led by Dr. Teresio Poggio based at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano and developed with several other universities and research institutes across Europe. The project will develop existing comparative research in the following directions: (a) a focus on Southern Europe; (b) an update of previous research in order to take into account changes since the global crisis; (c) a focus on the micro-level of social housing: models and policy instruments design, their strategic management; (d) its financing. The project is developed in cooperation with 13 scientific experts from various European universities, among whom the most distinguished scholars in this subject. A by-product of the project will also be the production of applied knowledge on the topic, which may be of use to policy makers and other organizations in the field. Metropolitan Research Institute’s managing director József Hegedüs is part of the cooperative work, and member of a team which focuses on place of social housing programs in different housing regimes in Europe.
